FAQ - In-person Workshop - Sedona

I’ve never painted before, but this looks fun. Can I really paint like the paintings in your photos?

Yes, you can!! With the 15+ years of experience, Lovejoy has a very simple, and logical method to follow while allowing you the freedom to add your own style. Perfect for first-time & beginner painters. Lovejoy’s teaching style is very encouraging, you will impress yourself with what you create in 3 hours.
**If you purchase the online course, you will continue to grow your skills after the in-person workshop.

Are all supplies provided in the price?

For the in-person workshop: Yes - all supplies are provided in the price - You need to email your pet photos 48 hrs prior to the workshop
For the online course: No- You will receive recommendations of supplies to purchase to paint at home.
*if you sign up for the bundle, your supplies are provided for the in-person workshop, you will need to purchase your own supplies for the online course

What if I do not have a pet?

Not a problem, If you don’t have a pet or have painted all your pets you can paint your favorite animal. Any wildlife photo will work.
**The only “animal” you can not paint in the in-person workshop is a human portrait. The complexity of the human face needs longer than a 3-hour workshop, and a teacher who wants to teach human portraiture.

What kind of photo should I send?
The recommended subject for this workshop: Pet photo (most popular), or Animal/Wildlife Photo
Photos need to be clear, in-focus & good lighting. The best photo will be chosen & edited.
If you have a preference please let me know when you send the photos.
Preference to headshots and good lighting

Can I paint more than 1 pet?
Yes, you can. It is recommended to paint 1 pet per canvas, you are welcome to paint 2 pets on 1 canvas, you will just need to paint a little faster for the in-person workshop.
**When you send in your pet photos, if both pets are in the same photo, no extra charge, if 2 photos need to be edited, then it’s an additional $10 (cash or Venmo)

Can I bring food, or wine/beer?
Depends on the Location: Please check with the location
**You are welcome to bring your own snacks & beverages, alcohol is ok here, please be responsible

Will the instructor be painting a demo and teaching the whole class?
In this digital age, Lovejoy has utilized recorded videos & slideshows to teach people to paint worldwide. In this workshop, you get the added benefit of in-person support. This is a self-paced workshop, . Lovejoy will give an intro to the whole class and then will go around and help each student as needed.

Can my friend come & watch? 
Only paid students are allowed in class.

Can I bring my pet, it's an emotional support animal?
Please leave your pets at home so you can focus on painting.  If everyone brought their pet it would be very distracting for the entire class.  For emotional support animals, painting is a form of creative therapy, you will gain more benefit if your animal stays at home and you focus on you.  

Can kids attend the class?
Kids 8-13 can attend class with an adult. Both must purchase a seat and both paint. With this age range, the kid needs to have this experience with you.
No exceptions,  You CAN NOT sign your kid up and watch while they paint, classes are NOT set up for that.
Kids 13 and older are welcome to attend the class by themselves, though I do recommend taking the class together as its a fun memory you both will always reference

48-hour cancellation policy?
You can get a partial refund or switch your date (up to 2 times) 48 hours prior to the date of your class. Please email lovejoycreations@gmail.com with your order number and the date you want to switch to.  I understand that emergencies (death, illness, car accident, etc..) happen, Please email lovejoycreations@gmail.com as soon as you can. 
(***Refunds requested 14 days prior to the class are 80%, refunds requested 8-13 days are 50%, refunds requested 3-7 days prior to the class are 40%, and refunds 48 hours prior to the class are 0% .)

Where do I purchase Supplies? How much is it going to cost?
Your supply cost will range from $35-$120. Pick something within your budget.
FYI- You can get away with cheaper brushes and canvas, but it is worthwhile to acquire quality acrylic paint
(recommended brand: Liquitex Basics, Arteza. )

You can purchase supplies on Amazon, Micheals store, Walmart, or local art store. Many of those places offer full kits. You will be utilizing your supplies multiple times.

Supplies you needed for the online workshop:
Supplies, photo prep, & photo transfer are covered in the “step1: PREP course”

1-Printed photo 8x10 or larger (simple B&W printer paper is best, you will be drawing on top of this)
2-Surface: canvas (stretched or panel)
8x10 in, or 9x12 in. or 11x14 in recommended
3-Brushes: 1 pointy and 2 square flat brushes
4-Acrylic paint: Bring what you have - recommended brand: Liquitex Basics, Arteza.
